A landlocked lake 26 km long at 4,522 metres, Tso Moriri stretches across the Changthang like a sheet of changing light steel grey one moment, an improbable blue the next. On its western shore, the centuries-old monastery at Korzok overlooks a landscape where Changpa pastoralists still graze yak and pashmina goats. At this altitude there are few trees, few roads and almost no visual clutter just water, mountains and an enormous Himalayan sky.
